Welcome to Year 7

Year 7 marks the start of Key Stage 3 for our pupils. In a two-tier system they would have changed schools and moved from a Primary to a High School at this point. Here at St John's the transition is very smooth and the children will only notice minor changes. When pupils enter Key Stage 3 they begin the process of preparing for High School, with their subject teachers starting to introduce pupils to GCSE style questions in readiness for moving on.

Head of Year 7

The overall aim for myself and our dedicated team of year 7 form tutors is to support the pupils as they continue their educational journey and promote a love of learning at St John's.  Pupils are encouraged to join one or more of our many extracurricular clubs, either continuing their successes from Key Stage 2 or discovering something new.  We have numerous trips and events taking place this year, including Oakerwood Residential, Worcester Cathedral and finally Funfest in the Summer.

The Year 7 team will strive to ensure that all our young learners are performing to the best of their ability by closely monitoring behaviour, punctuality and progress by liaising with subject teachers. They are encouraged to take more responsibility for personal organisation and roles of responsibility will be on offer both this year and into year 8. They might want to apply for the role of Prefect, House Captain or even the prestigious Head Prefect roles of St John's next year. Year 7 is the time to prove themselves and we look forward to an exciting year ahead.
