Children's University
Working closely with the University of Worcester, St John’s is proud to celebrate the commitment that our pupils put into extracurricular activities through being at Children’s University.
Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop a love of learning in children. We do this by encouraging and celebrating participation in extracurricular activities in and outside of school. The impact of these activities is proven to be positive, which is why we are committed to creating a level playing field of opportunity and opening up access to children of all backgrounds.
For every child that takes part in Children’s University, we want the following outcomes:
- That learning can be fun, aspirational, and lifelong.
- They have enjoyed a range of new learning experiences and are motivated to keep learning in different ways.
- They have grown in confidence and self-belief.
- They have a broader range of essential skills in line with the Skills Builder Framework.
- They are empowered to make positive choices about their future.
- They can better cope with the challenges that life throws at them.
- They are celebrated for their commitment to learning by their family, school, and community.
Children’s University online
For the first time ever, we now offer access to the online platform!
Each week, you can record your extracurricular activities via the website: https://www.childrensuniversity.co.uk/childrens-university-online/
- Collect your log-in details from Miss Gower.
- Log in at home or in ICT1 on a Thursday lunchtime and record your activities.
- See Miss Gower during Thursday lunchtime to collect the relevant codes for your activities.
- Remember to log your activities as frequently as possible.
If you obtain enough points (30 hours minimum), there will be an opportunity to visit Worcester University and attend their graduation ceremony. If you want to continue earning points, you can carry on with your membership next year and attend the university again!
With the wide range of extracurricular activities accredited by Children’s University at St John’s and in the wider community, pupils are spoilt for choice in trying out new skills and experiences whilst also developing their confidence in hobbies they already love. If you currently take part in an extracurricular activity which is not currently validated by Children’s University, let us know so we can ensure that it is!
